Mini
bikinis have come from an interesting history of swimsuit fashion. The
bikini as we know it today has been around for about 70 years. It was
the invention of two Frenchmen: engineer Louis Réard and fashion
designer Jacques Heim in 1946. Around that time it was banned in catholic
countries such as Spain, Portugal, and Italy!
The mini bikinis of today have become even more revealing than those
that first shocked the world in the 1940s. There are many variants.
The string bikini is one of the most popular. Instead of one, full,
single-piece bottom this style consists of two triangular pieces connected
by string portions, hence the name.
Perhaps the most notorious of the mini bikinis today is the micro bikini.
This style intentionally covers the least amount of skin possible and
is generally considered too revealing for public wear. The development
of today’s mini micro bikinis started with a trend in decreasing
the bikini top to the most minimal size imaginable. After all experimentations
there had been covered, the shrinking phenomenon moved onto the bottoms.
